I agree with your assessment of Stone's latest films; I haven't even been motivated to watch them in the first place.

anonymous:

Is it really that I don't make sense, as you personally claim (despite the fact that everyone else who has so far responded understood what was being written without difficulty), or is it that you, for inexplicable reasons, don't understand the very clear points being made? That is a rhetorical question; I already know the answer.JDHURFhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02133971619468463558noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19106619.post-25550518487391422092008-07-31T22:50:00.000-07:002008-07-31T22:50:00.000-07:00u just ramble on without making sense.u just ramble on without making sense.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19106619.post-11810611278375508982008-07-31T15:28:00.000-07:002008-07-31T15:28:00.000-07:00I really like Wall Street. When I first saw it, I felt Douglas' character was used as a satirical crutch, but as you pointed out, his character is based partly on real people. I still think the film spoon-feeds the audience in some ways, but it's a really insightful, well-made film. Even though Oliver Stone has made some terrible cinematic mistakes lately (Alexander, anyone?) I still have respect for the guy. The Doors and Wall Street are my favorites.

Good review, JDHURF!!tokugawa smilehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09989350396017101809noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19106619.post-10011984762721797512008-07-27T20:49:00.000-07:002008-07-27T20:49:00.000-07:00I agree, it holds up amazingly well. Especially with, as George Bush recently put it, "Wall Street getting drunk" again causing bank runs, the subprime mortgage crisis and so on; not to forget the food and fuel shortages around the globe.JDHURFhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02133971619468463558noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19106619.post-62363973302840313242008-07-27T20:22:00.000-07:002008-07-27T20:22:00.000-07:00Thank you for reminding me about that movie. I think it holds up, in this period of hunger riots, while wheat production is lowest since 1948.Frank Partisanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03536211653082893030noreply@blogger.com
